Groundhog Day

We have had a groundhog live in our backyard for the last several years. When my brothers were younger, they used to fill up his hole with crabapples, but we've left him alone in the last few years. This year he had babies (hmm...I should really stop calling him "he" then). My cat loves watching them. There are about six of them, and they look like little groundhog nuggets or something. I should say there were six, because yesterday we looked out the window to see a fox. He ran off with one of the babies in his mouth, but he had killed two of them, and the other one was just left in our yard. It was so sad. I know foxes have to eat too, but I'm on the lookout for him now. No one messes with my groundhog babies.
